# Test report 2005

The following test appears courtesy of “Sailing Today” magazine, the author of the test, Duncan Kent, and the owner, Alan Roebuck. The following is an abridged version of the test that first appeared in “Sailing Today”, issue 98, June 2005.

Construction details, and photographs of J25s both above & below decks, appear elsewhere on site.

“…She is very spacious below for a 25 footer, thanks to the coach roof sides being taken right out towards the hull, & her very reasonable 5’8” headroom ( 1.72m)……..”

“There were two original accommodation plans- one with a dinette to port, the second with an L shaped settee around the table, as in Ayesha. In both cases the table drops to form a small double berth measuring 5’4”X 3’3” (1.62m X 1m).

Opposite is a very long seat/berth measuring 6’6”(1.98m)……….which makes a good sea berth with the addition of a lee cloth. Some later models had an infill that went between the dinette seating, right across to the settee opposite, creating a vast 8’ long double, over 5’wide for use at anchor or in port. There is bags of space in bins under the seating, but no lockers above, just two rather shallow shelves, above the seat backs.

Thanks to the four large portlights, the saloon is nice & bright, & the two big hatches keep plenty of air circulating.
